Archmagos Dominus Anagi concept

I went out and bought the Lady Olynder and some green stuff today to make an Archmagos Dominus conversion. I have done a beginning sketch to start with. I'm sure she will change a bit as I come up with more ideas, but for now here is the initial concept.

Adeptus Tyranicus 002

The second post for my Tyranid army is just a progress picture of what I'm working on now. My Hive Tyrant, Beast 01. I am happy with how the cables turned out and how well the head came out in general. I decided to highlight up further than I normally do. I get a lot of comments about not adding enough highlights to my models. I prefer to paint them that way because to me it looks more realistic, but I thought I'd give it a try anyway. I think it's coming out pretty well so far. I've also been told repeatedly that my pictures are too dark so I've made an effort to not darken them down anymore.

Death Guard Defiler

I've never liked the defiler model. I've always like the soulgrinder model better even though they use the same leg assembly. I just don't like how boxy it looks. So I decided to convert one for use in my Death Guard army since they are one of the few daemon engines that can be given the Death Guard keyword. I'm pleased with how it turned out, but I'm having difficulty with what colors to paint it. Here it is fully converted and primed.

The Noble Dead

The noble spirits bound into form in Shyish are greatly changed from their brothers in other realms. They reflect the noble dead of the realm in which they inhabit rather than the ancient guardians of legend. They emulate the nobles of many lands that have come to the realm of death after life and the terror they bring to their enemies is unmatched my any their noble brothers bring from other lands.
Rather than use my last 10 dryads as actual dryad I decided to convert them into Tree-Revenants. This is the first unit of 5. I may make the other five into Spite-Revenants instead, but chances are they will  be Tree-Revenants like these. With these I can make a Household battalion which means I can make more of the Wargrove battalions. With a second unit I'll have enough models for any one of the Gnarlroot, Ironbark, Harvestboon, or Winterleaf Wargroves. I'll be doing a little bit of puttying on these, basing them and then they will be ready for painting.

The Lady of the House

Presenting the Lady Ninsar, Loremaster of the Clan Ur and bearer of the Weeping Crown. The Ancient Lady Ninsar has been the Loremaster of Clan Ur since it was first founded in the Realm of Shyish. It is she who wears the Weeping Crown, a terrible yet powerful artifact driven directly into the crown of Ninsar's head. It gets it's name from the lifesap that continues to weep from the wounds caused by its use, but the power it grants in combat far outweighs the pain it causes its bearer.

My first "treelord". When I first bought this model I used it as a daemon and added wings. Since I started creating a Sylvaneth army I decided to repurpose her back to her original form. I ordered a base for her, but it still hasn't arrived so I've had to paint her without it. I may still add some pigments to her after I paint her base. She is from Ultraforge, a company that has, unfortunately gone out of business. Fortunately there is another company with a similar design called Creature Caster. Their miniatures are pretty amazing and affordable.

Brotherhood of the Crow part 22

Added some highlights to the plaguebearers.

Brotherhood of the Crow part 21

So, I decided to borrow Stuart's idea over at the Lost and the Very Damned and create a "Creatures of Chaos table challenge" for myself. But I am sure it will turn into a "cry because there is no way I can come close to completing this challenge" challenge. My first completed entry will be 94-95 "D3 Plaguebearers."
Here are my second and third plaguebearers for the challenge, Putridsore and Wormrot.

After the plaguebearers I'll be doing entry 98-100 "D6 Nurgling Bases." Since that is the only other entry I currently own the models for.

Nurgle Oldhammer Warband part 19

More progress on my army standard bearer. I've finished his skin and most of his armor, except the guard on his right arm. He is coming along nicely. I'm still wondering what I will be painting on the banner and whether or not I'll paint the same thing on both sides. I know I will be painting chaos runes on it though.

Nurgle Oldhammer Warband part 18

I love the old 80s citadel troll models. I've wanted to own one, preferably several, for a long time. Well I finally got an old troll, FTT9 / C31 Giant Half-Troll Champion. I got him from my friend down the street, but he didn't have the axe or shield so I decided to make him a standard bearer with a sword. I wasn't really sure where he could fit into my warband/army since I couldn't really find any rules to use for the model, other than a standard troll which can't wear armor. So I decided to use him as my army standard bearer. In a game I will use him as a chaos champion of Nurgle who has the crossbreed (troll) chaos attribute. I'm still mulling over what skin color he will have, but right now I am leaning toward a turquoise with purplish highlights. I started painting him last night and already made a mistake. I decided that his armor would be a silver color rather than bronze, but as I started to paint his armor I forgot and started painting it bronze. Now I have to go back and fix it, though it shouldn't be a problem. For some reason it seems no one is interested in painting or collecting this model. I can only guess it is probably because there weren't really rules for him so the sculpt was never a big hit. I will post his banner once I have done more with it.

Nurgle Oldhammer Warband part 15

So, I just recently did a trade with my friend who lives down the street from me so I have a few new miniatures, mainly chaos familiars, including two Bretonnians. I decided to do a slight conversion on one to make a chaos warrior. Here he is with colors blocked in and a few highlights on his armor. Next I'll be doing some oil washes and more highlights.

Nurgle Oldhammer Warband part 13

I'm painting up some plaguebearers for my warband/army just in case I roll them as rewards for my champion or on the Creatures of Chaos chart. Introducing Plaguescum the Plaguebearer. I'm still working on his skin and I haven't started on his base yet. Very much still a work in progress. I've always thought his face looks like an orc's. I decided to paint it with a bit of pink to help it stand out.

Nurgle Oldhammer Warband part 8

So, I'm working on my last chaos warrior for a while. I am almost done with him. I just need to paint his horns, the tips of his feet and finish his shield. I'm doing a special technique on his shield and I hope it turns out well.

Nurgle Oldhammer Warband part 4

Well, the initial painting on the banner is done. Now I need to go back and dirty it up. I have to say I am proud of how it turned out. I think this is the easiest banner I've painted. I don't know what got into me.

This is the painting that inspired it.

Nurgle Oldhammer Warband part 3

Now that I have finished the leader of the unit I'm moving on to the banner bearer. I've started by airbrushing the basecoat as well as doing some shading on the banner. Next I'll use oil washes to add further shadows to the armor and banner as well as adding some filth to the banner.

Nurgle Oldhammer Warband part 1

So, I've been really enjoying looking at pictures of miniatures from the 80's and early 90's lately. I've recently found a great forum (http://forum.oldhammer.org.uk/index.php) that has everything I've been looking for in a miniature community. At my own game store there are very few players that enjoy or remember Warhammer in the 80's and 90's, especially the miniatures, so its nice to find that I'm not the only one that misses the days of 3rd edition Warhammer. In the spirit of this new found community I've decided to create a Nurgle warband using the Fantasy chaos line from the 80's and early 90's.
Since I am very poor right now, having lost my job, I have searched my mini collection for some of my older miniatures. I've lucked out and found a few chaos warriors to paint. I'll be starting with a mini that I converted and painted in the early 10's.

Originally I converted him by cutting off his mace and replacing it with a sword blade from Archaon the Everchosen, as well as giving him Archaon's shield. I have now replaced the blade and shield with new ones more in keeping with the appearance of the model.
I've decided not to strip him before priming him since the paints I used were thin enough to not clog any details. I'll be using an airbrush to prime him and I'll paint him primarily using oil washes.

Chaos Sorcerer of Nurgle part 3

So, I discovered from looking at image online that this model's stomach is supposed to be covered in his robes so I had to repaint it. I also started on the fire and worked on the metals and the base. Next I'll be finishing the fire and working on the staff and that should be all.

Chaos Sorcerer of Nurgle part 2

More work on the Nurgle sorcerer/Herald.
Added a purple oil wash to the skin.
Next I added a blue oil wash to the skin.
 Back view.
Next I started on the white robes. I masked the skin and airbrushed the white on the robes.
 Back view.
Next I'll be working on the details. The metal, the horns, the brassier and the base.

Chaos Sorcerer of Nurgle part 1

So, I've started work on a new miniature. Its a Nurgle Sorcerer, or Herald of Nurgle. I'm using an airbrush and washes mostly. This will be my first time using oil based washes and I'm trying to do the whole process properly and take my time. Here are a few progress pictures.
Primed with Vallejo airbrush grey primer.
Airbrushed the skin with Reaper Master series Dune Shadow.
Added Model Color white and airbrushed the highlights.
Next I will be doing both a purple oil wash followed by a blue wash.
This is the skin color I am trying to achieve.
