Brotherhood of the Laughing Father part 13

I've started my first unit of brood brothers. I've wanted to do a teal color scheme for a little while now and decided it was finally time. I think the color of the brood brother units will contrast well with the rest of the army. This is the veteran leader of the unit.

  1. Bob Olley Imperial Guard! I'd forgotten those even existed (even though I think I have at least one). Cannot believe how prolific you are. Are you sure you haven't got a massive army painted up already and you are just producing one every few days as 'newly painted'. It all seems a bit suspicious to me. I've spent about two weeks trying to finish a couple of bikes.

    1. Lol. I was wondering if someone would ask me that eventually. Nope, I'm painting all of these as I go. Before about a month ago I hadn't painted an oldhammer model since 2001. I got him in a group purchase a couple weeks ago. I got 8 imperial guards, this one and seven plastic ones. This is the only one that had an arm, just one, all the rest were armless and one was headless. I think I got them for 6 euros. I didn't even know this was an Olley mini till I started painting him.

  2. Great job on these figures. I like the contrast of the blue to the muted tones of the others. I'm beginning to think that completing single figures is the way go. Bulk painting is soul sucking while completing figures leaves me pumped to finish another.

    1. I was just explaining that to a friend of mine in Washington. I always try to paint as I get the models rather than waiting to have a whole army to paint. It gives a really wonderful feeling to be finished with painting an army that you enjoy painting. For instance, I am finished painting this army. I'm not done with it, but every model that can be painted has been. Its a nice way to handle the wait for reasonably price oldhammer models. The anticipation of painting the next model is way better than the frustration of not having enough models to start painting the army you want. The benefit of oldhammer models is how fun each one if to paint. If you bulk paint them that fun is lost.

  3. I tend to base coat and base en masse but shade and detail one or two at a time. Trying to get the best of both worlds.

    1. I like to take my time with one miniature at a time. For me the painting itself is the point, not so much the end result.
